Optical Crystals
 Undoped YAG crystal (Y3Al5O12

The mechanical and chemical stability is comparable to sapphire crystal, but YAG is unique for it is non-birefringent and available in a higher optical homogeneity and surface quality. Undoped YAG Crystal is an excellent material for UV-IR optical windows, particularly for high energy density applications. High quality YAG rods and windows are available from CASTECH.

Sapphire Crystal (Al2O3

As the hardest oxide crystal, sapphire has a combination of optical and physical properties that make it become the best choice for a variety of demanding applications. Sapphire maintains its strength even at high temperature. It has good thermal properties, excellent electrical and dielectric properties, and is resistant to chemical attack.
